To foam or not to foam... depends on your skin.

A bunch of people have been asking me why our cleanser doesn't foam.

Here's the answer.

As a person with sensitive skin, and the owner of a skincare company that caters for people with sensitive skin, I understand the importance of using gentle and safe skincare products.

Sensitive skin requires extra care and attention, and using harsh or irritating ingredients can cause a range of problems, from redness and inflammation to itching and flaking.

One ingredient that should be avoided by women with sensitive skin is Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS).

SLS is a common ingredient in many personal care and cleaning products, including shampoos, body washes, toothpaste and skin care. It's used to create a foaming action, which can make products feel more effective and refreshing.

However, SLS can be very harsh and can strip the skin of its natural oils, leaving it dry, irritated, and vulnerable.

Here are some reasons why women with sensitive skin should avoid products with SLS:

SLS can cause irritation: SLS is a known irritant, and it can cause redness, itching, and burning sensations on the skin. These reactions can be especially problematic for women with sensitive skin, who are already more prone to these issues.

SLS can disrupt the skin's natural moisture barrier: SLS is a surfactant, which means it can break down the skin's natural oils and moisture barrier. This can leave the skin feeling dry, tight, and uncomfortable, and can even lead to inflammation and infection.

SLS can exacerbate skin conditions: For women with skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis, using products with SLS can make their symptoms worse. The harsh nature of SLS can further irritate and inflame the skin, leading to more severe outbreaks and discomfort.

SLS can be harmful to the environment: SLS is not only harsh on the skin, but it can also be harmful to the environment. It's a known pollutant, and it can accumulate in waterways and harm aquatic life. Using SLS-free products is a simple way to make a positive impact on the environment.

People with sensitive skin should avoid using products with SLS. There are plenty of gentle, effective, and safe alternatives available, including natural ingredients and SLS-free formulas, such as the Aussenskin products.

By choosing these products, you can keep your skin healthy, hydrated, and happy, without compromising on quality or performance.
