Posted by Victoria Sorrell on

What does a face toner do and why would you bother having it in your skin care routine?

We all know the basic 'cleanse, tone, moisturise routine,’ but toners seem to have fallen off the bandwagon recently with the other 2 rising above.

I think it was because there were so many toners that contained nasty chemicals and alcohol, smart people like you realised you’re better off taking it out of your routine.

Am I right?

It wreaked havoc on your sensitive skin, creating more redness, stinging and drying. Definitely NOT what we want for our skin!

Oh but how times have changed - for the better. Read on to find out how toners with natural active ingredients can benefit you.

What actually is a Face Toner?

Our Elderflower refreshing mist functions as an instant dose of delicious smelling, goodness to your skin. It easily absorbs into your skin, knowing that only natural ingredients are entering your skin. A huge bonus for your hormone system! It may also rehydrate your skin form any moisture lost during cleansing.

Our toner preps your skin for a smooth, even delivery of the day or night cream moisturiser to help it absorb properly.

If you find that you have been wearing heavy makeup, and your cleanser didn’t remove everything, the toner on the wipes are a great way to wipe any excess makeup off gently.

Our toner is beautifully hydrating. I like to keep an extra bottle of toner in the fridge, so I can have a delicious, refreshing spray on my face and neck on a hot day. So good if you are having a hot flush!

The toner is alcohol free, formulated with soothing ingredients, which is especially helpful for people with acne-prone skin and sensitive skin.

The Elderflower Refreshing Mist contains several healing plant extracts including Aloe Vera, Jacaranda and Elderflower. The Jacaranda flower is not only beautiful visually, it is also able to help hydrate, soothe and firm the skins tissues. The light floral scent of Rose and Jasmine is soothing for both the mind and the skin.

Elderflower has anti-inflammatory properties and is rich in vitamins, flavonoids, and quercetin. They are also rich in bioflavonoids which help prevent wrinkles from developing.

With such a beautiful product available to you, you’d be doing your skin a disservice if you skip this step. Toner only takes a couple of seconds to spray or swipe on, but it may help to enhance the appearance of youthful, healthy skin. Your beauty routine should never be without it.

Your toner should be applied after cleansing. You can use it in 2 ways, spray it directly onto your face and allow to soak in then apply moisturiser, or spray onto the cleansing wipes that come as a bonus gift with your refreshing mist toner, and wipe over your skin softly.

When it comes to glowing, healthy-looking skin, toner is a key step in your routine. Check out the Elderflower Refreshing Mist here: https://www.aussenskin.com.au/products/elderflower-refreshing-mist-toning-sensitive-skin
